About Parenting Counts

Parenting Counts is a family of products for parents and children, birth to five created and disseminated by Talaris Institute. Focused on bonding, brain development and social-emotional development, these products help parents understand the importance of parenting in the early years. By learning how children think, feel and learn, parents are more capable of helping their children grow in healthy ways. Research tells us that the bond between a parent and child is created in the first five years. This parental bond is the foundation for all learning and the foundation for all relationships developed later in the child's life. That's why Parenting Counts!

We are proud to announce that all of our products are produced by our parent company, Talaris Institute. Talaris is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote successful parenting through research-based information about raising socially and emotionally healthy children, birth to five. By translating research from brain science, child development and parenting professionals into accessible and practical information for parents and caregivers, Talaris has built a reputation for high quality information parents and trainers can count on.

Parenting Counts is proud to introduce a new series of parenting kits entitled Life with Baby, Life with Toddler and Life with Preschooler. Understanding that today's parents have little time to spend reading parenting information, we created informative, fun to watch DVD's with easy to read booklets containing parenting tips. Each kit contains products and information that encourages parents to use everyday parenting moments to respond, communicate and connect with their children.

Seven years ago, with the help of the PBS network of outreach coordinators, community colleges, parenting associations and family agencies, Talaris introduced a product line called Parenting Counts. Using one minute TV spots as the foundation, Talaris created parenting workshops and worked with individual outreach coordinators to bring this parenting information to their communities.
