We know that trainers can make all of the difference in how a parent or professional caregiver understands and uses educational materials. We have developed materials to help trainers in their work and we have designed and packaged materials for trainers to distribute at their events. Below, you will find descriptions of those materials. Please visit our store to purchase your materials and thank you for the great work you do in helping parents and caregivers do their job in raising socially and emotionally healthy children!

This Discussion Manual contains a DVD of our 60-second spots as well as thirteen 20-minute lesson plans that correspond to the themes of the spots. Samples of the corresponding Research Spotlights are included, as are all of the pamphlets in English. You also receive samples of the following suggested companion pieces: one of each postcard, the bookmark, the "Parenting Tips" card, the "What Am I Feeling?" pamphlet, and the "Ten Emotions" pamphlet.

If your organization is distributing either the new Parenting Guides or Parenting Kits in the “Life with” series, we have developed an easy to use Discussion Guide for your use. These Discussion Guides are designed for use by professional trainers and by untrained group facilitators. Using the DVD as a beginning point, the Guide prompts discussion by asking a series of questions to stimulate conversations among your group. Critical points of information are listed for each question to ensure that the discussion leader can guide the conversation appropriately.

We currently offer twelve 60-second Spots (aka: video clips) intended for broadcast and for use within workshops. Many of our print-materials were created to correspond with these Spots.  These Spots are available on DVD or VHS.

We offer thirteen pamphlets that correspond to the 60-second Spots. These high quality well-designed pamphlets contain succinct and poignant information. Helpful Parenting Tips are on the back of each. Created to attract the interest of parents from diverse backgrounds and literacy levels.
(Size 10" X 8" folded in half to make a 5" X 8" brochure)
Available in Spanish.

We offer 9 postcards that correspond to the first nine 60-second Spots. Additional postcards may be available in September 2008. These postcards are fun mailers - use them to remind folks of upcoming events or have participants make a "note to self" and mail to them a few weeks after the event.
(Size 5 1/2" X 8 1/2")

The Parent Tip Card offers parent tips to promote a strong bond between parent and child and to support children's social/emotional development.

We offer a wide selection of print materials called "Research Spotlights," each featuring important child development topics and the associated research. Helpful Parenting Tips are included on the back of each. Created for higher-literacy families and for professionals, or for anyone interested in child development research.
(Size 10 1/2" X 15" folded in half to make a "10 1/2" X 7 1/2" brochure)

Many of our Research Spotlights have the same title as the "Spots" pamphlets. What's the difference between the two? The Research Spotlights are larger in size than the "Spots" pamphlets and are more in depth. In contrast, the "Spots" pamphlets are smaller, shorter, simpler.

Emotion Coaching
- This product line was created in collaboration with Dr. John Gottman. The materials stem from his seminal book titled "How to Raise an Emotionally Intelligent Child." After years of conducting research with parents and children, he identified four primary “parenting styles” for dealing with emotions. He recommends that all caregivers incorporate the Emotion Coaching style with their children at least 30 percent of the time.

This 20 minute video includes excerpts of Dr. Gottman speaking, and contains vignettes of each the 4 parenting styles he found to be most prominent in his research. The Emotion Coaching style is emphasized.

This 48 page booklet uses simple language and powerful photographs to describe Dr. John Gottman's four parenting styles. The five steps of Emotion Coaching are highlighted.
(Size 11” X 7”)

This colorful 5-fold pamphlet succinctly defines how to use Dr. Gottman’s Emotion Coaching approach.
(Size 7” X 4” folded; when completely unfolded it is 7” X 20”)
